Where we are simply instructed to obtain the Grant of Probate and the only Inheritance Tax form required is form IHT205(2011) we charge a fixed fee of £750 plus VAT.
Where we are instructed simply to obtain the Grant of Probate and the Inheritance Tax forms required are IHT205(2011) and IHT217, we charge £900 plus VAT.
Where we are instructed to obtain the Grant of Probate and form IHT400 and the associated schedules need to be completed, our fees will be in the region of £1,500 plus VAT.
Where we are instructed not just to obtain the Grant of Probate but also to assist in the administration of the estate itself, we are happy to provide a quotation when we know the size and complexity of the estate. As a guide, however, we would not normally charge more than 2% of the gross value of the estate plus VAT. Our charge out rates are currently as follows:

All work is handled from start to finish by experienced specialist Solicitors/Probate Executives and supervised by other specialist Solicitors/Probate Executives.
We can also give you an estimate of how long the administration of the estate will take at that stage.
The standard disbursements are as follows:
Swear Fees – approximately £13 per person.
Probate Court Fees - £155 plus £0.50p for each court sealed copy of the Grant.
Statutory Notices to Creditors – variable but approximately £500.
Bankruptcy Search Fees - £2 per person.
