Practice makes perfect

We recently took part in an interview focus day with Maplesden Noakes School in Maidstone to help teach young people the essential skills needed to prepare them for the world of work.

Several local businesses attended and we each interviewed seven students for Saturday jobs and various roles, so that they could practice interview techniques, create a CV and they were supplied with work experience diaries to assist their applications.

The school’s Careers Officer Emma Mills commented: “Without you, there would have been no focus to the day and the school really does appreciate all the effort and time that you spent with each student, helping to prepare them for their next steps. It was a pleasure to meet you all and work with you on the day. The event was a great success. It was the first event that we had chosen to run using CV’s as applications for interview.”

Lizzie Smith at Gullands comments: “We were delighted to support the school and the young people. It can be hard to prepare for life after school and it is essential to provide the opportunity to learn interview skills and to give feedback to enable them to be ready for the future. We wish them every success as they prepare to enter the world of work.”
