Government consultation for new build home owners
Government consultation for new build home owners
The Government is currently holding a consultation to seek the views of the buyers of new build residential properties who have had problems with their home on the role and powers of the New Homes Ombudsman.
The Government want the Ombudsman scheme to apply across the UK and they intend to introduce a Code of Practice for Developers of new build homes which provide a set of standards which the Ombudsman will apply.
The consultation is open to 22 August 2019 and anyone who deals with or has bought a new build property are encouraged to participate.
David Brown, Partner at Gullands comments: “Unfortunately there can be many issues with the build quality and finish of new build homes and the Government is aiming to address this which is good news for home owners. Anyone who has bought a new build and is experiencing issues or isn’t happy with the finish of their property have a number of options open to them and we are happy to advise.”
